ABOUT MCTUFF

A fun and powerful trio best viewed live!

Hammond organist, Joe Doria brings together some of the areas finest with "McTuff"!

What began as an ode to some of the organ greats in soul jazz, such as delivering their own take on the works of Jimmy Smith and Captain Jack McDuff, soon turned into something more. A movement towards being a band that can appeal to almost any audience, room, and vibe. Melody, dynamics, and groove...from the soft and surreal to deep funk. From swinging soul...all the way to the thumping metal grind...no musical stone gets unturned. McTUFF is about letting it all go and having fun, a moment of time to remember the groove laid down by the soul masters as well as introduce original works of their own.

With the caliber of musicianship, honesty, and improvisational experience... combined with a love of all styles and genres of music, MCTUFF combines the ingredients to show live audiences that no show is the same.

Joe Doria captains the Hammond Organ, the impeccable Andy Coe on guitar, and the incredible Dvonne Lewis on drums.

And, when his schedule permits, MCTUFF is also joined with the world-renowned
"Skerik" on tenor sax!

Bandmember BIOS:

Joe Doria - Hammond Organ

"Raised in the Northwest, Hammond organist Joe Doria has been making big waves on the music scene and is the most sought after organist in the area.

Featured in numerous bands and CD's, Audiences are dazed with his ability to comp both the bass lines and the chordal structure of a song, while at the same time adding depth and dimension to every song he performs.
Joe learned from the Hammond greats of past and present with emphasis on his favorites - Jack McDuff and Jimmy Smith. It's clear to see that these studies are paying off. Crowds whoop and hollar along with the incredibly tasty grooves he lays down. People watch in amazement at his finger and pedal work. He is obviously at home and in touch with the Hammond, knowing the instrument and it's history so well as to make it sing in any situation.

Never limiting himself to one style and constantly working with new projects, Joe can be heard on many cd's and playing live in projects such as: The JD Trio with Byron Vannoy and Chris Spencer, The Dan Heck Trio with John Wicks and Dan Heck, Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet, Arisawkadoria with Kevin Sawka and Ari Zucker, the duo DOS(e) with John Wicks, guitarist Skip Heller, Chewy , Bill Frisell, The Drunken Masters with Thadeus Turner and Mike Stone, drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts, drummer Michael Shrieve of Santana, Kinski, Barrett Martin's "Aftermath", and many more."
